The visual art studio at Ngutu College is a place for the young people of the school to release their creativity and pour themselves into their art. Creativity means something different for every young person, with some opting for painting with pastels on a canvas and others making a lightsaber out of clay and LED lights. The inspiration for theses artworks ranges from YouTube shorts, pets and bird discos, to the future, making each project unique and special to each artist. When asked about the atmosphere of the art space, the young people responded by telling us that it is a very free feeling space, where you can be creative and in a young person's own words, "Do your own thing but still be inspired by others." By the end of the year, we will hopefully have 300 artworks from 170 children. Most of the young people have been doing art since they came to the college or for around 2 years and have really enjoyed it. "The art show is an opportunity to present your art to the world and be proud of it." Penny, the art educator, says. Penny helps the young artists by teaching them skills and different ways of creating their art work.
