The Ngutu Kurrakas are a team of hardworking, persistent young people that came together to form a formidable Ice Hockey team. The team actually began in 2023, with the team competing in their first ever tournament, and this year, majority of the team came back to join some new arrivals to make the team bigger and better. The 3rd of April marked the first tournament of the year, with Harry Aylen scoring a goal in the first game, ensuring the team won 1-0. The rest of the day went just as well, with a couple other one-point wins, and several close calls, in the end, the Kurrakas were a group of tired but very happy players who played well, in their first tournament of the season.
Most of the players on the team started off at the start of the year not being able to skate, and the tournaments being once every term showcase the players' ability to learn skills in an unknown environment. Ice Hockey provides an out of school experience for Ngutu's young adults to take a break from busy school life and enjoy playing a sport. When asked, all players say that Ice Factor has been an amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity.
